Around 1:30 PM, the Shawnee Middle School Administration dealt with an upset parent with the help of our School Resource Officer. The parent was outside the building and used many profane words. Students may have heard this. At no point did the parent enter the building and students were not at-risk. We will use our normal dismissal procedures.

Yesterday, the fifth graders attended the D.A.R.E concert at the Civic Center. Annually our fifth grade participates in the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program. Thank you to the Allen County Sherriff's Department for staffing and running the program. It is one of our many efforts at Shawnee Middle School to battle addiction.

Monday and Tuesday of this week current fourth graders visited the Middle School. The students met with fifth grade teachers and had the chance to ask questions about SMS. The students also met with a panel of current fifth graders so they could hear their tips on how to succeed in the fifth grade. Time ended with a tour of the building. Thanks to the fourth and fifth grade teachers as well as Mrs. Melson for helping plan this event.
