Shawnee Local School District is proud to be recognized as a Purple Star School District by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce! All four of our buildings have earned this designation, highlighting our significant commitment to serving students and families connected to our nation’s military.
Last week, our building liaisons led a meaningful spirit week in recognition of our military-connected families. Students and families at Elmwood, Maplewood and the Middle School shared time together over lunch, and each building proudly participated in “Purple Up!” day--showing appreciation and unity across our district.

SMS State Test Science: 5th and 8th grade Parts 1 and Part 2 will be tomorrow 4/22. Make sure students get a good night's sleep and eat a good breakfast. Be on time., and be sure they charge their chromebooks.

On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, Shawnee Schools will host the Freedom Truck Mobile Museum. The Freedom Truck offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore the nation's history through an interactive exhibit designed for all ages. Public tours of the Mobile Museum are available from 3-5 pm in the Reinhardt Athletic Complex west of Shawnee High School (3333 Zurmehly Rd.).
