Wednesday, August 23rd (tomorrow) the Middle School Offices and school will close at 1:15 PM so we can prepare for our Open House. The fifth grade Open House is from 5 - 6 PM, the sixth grade Open House is from 6 - 7 PM and the seventh and eighth grade Open House is from 5 - 6:30 PM. Please plan to come and walk your student's schedule. Also, please do not park on the grass. If needed, the high school lot is available.
A reminder that schedule pick up begins tomorrow for 7th and 8th grade students from 8-11 AM and 1-3 PM. Thursday is the 5th and 6th grade pick-up. The same time frames apply for the office (8-11 AM and 1-3 PM). Friday any grade level may come (during the same time frames).

Fifth grade students attended the D.A.R.E. concert at the Civic Center. Shawnee Middle School coordinates with the Allen County Sheriff's Department to provide the D.A.R.E. program each year to fifth graders. D.A.R.E. stands for "Drug Abuse Resistance Education." The program encourages making good, healthy choices.

If you did not order a yearbook earlier in the school year, extra SMS Yearbooks will go on sale this Friday the 19th. They will be sold each morning in the 7/8 cafeteria until we are sold out. Cost is $35, students must have EXACT cash or a check made out to Shawnee Middle School. Remember there is limited availability, it is first come first served, so if you want a yearbook, have your money ready Friday morning!
