
Shawnee High School Receives Cash for Classrooms Grant from Casey's
Thanks to a generous $6,000 grant, the District will be able to purchase a manufacturing hub, along with three 3D printers and filament.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Students and staff are encouraged to be seen wearing green this Friday, May 9th, to support breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. All clothing must be school appropriate!


Join GEARS & CHEERS for a fun-filled bike-a-thon to raise money for Pelotonia Kids! This event is for children ages 12 and under. Registration ends May 30, 2025.

Our Boys Basketball team earned a spot in the Regional Semi-Final! Their game will be played at 8 pm on Wednesday, March 5 at The University of Toledo - Savage Arena, 2025 N. Douglas Rd., Toledo. Tickets can be purchased at ohsaa.org/tickets.

Shawnee Schools will be in session following the two-hour delay today, Friday, February 21, 2025.

Shawnee Schools will be having a district-wide $1 hat day on Wednesday, February 19th to benefit a Shawnee family that lost their home in a fire. Students and staff can bring in $1 to wear a hat on this day. All proceeds will go directly to the family.


In honor of 10th grade student Emma Friemoth, Shawnee students and staff district-wide are invited to wear pink on Wednesday, February 12th. Please continue to pray for her family and friends during this time of loss.


This week is National School Counseling Week! We want to take a moment to show appreciation for all of the hard work our school counselors do and the dedication that they show to our students each and every day. In light of the weather forecast with potential snow tonight/tomorrow morning, if there is a two-hour delay and school is in session, the early dismissal would be cancelled and school would be dismissed at the normal time.

Out if an abundance of caution, due to a benzene gas leak at the Lima refinery, Shawnee Schools will be dismissing students as soon as possible. Students will be dismissed on their normal afternoon bus routes. Elmwood and Maplewood students will be taken to Maplewood. Updates will be sent as soon as more information is available. This is currently not a danger to the community.

Just a reminder, next week is conference week at Maplewood. If you still need to schedule your conference, reach out to your student's teacher. We look forward to seeing you all!


It's Red Ribbon Week at Maplewood and we believe Drug Free is the best way to be.
Maplewood will be the “change” that makes a difference - Each homeroom will collect change all week to donate towards D.A.R.E. The homeroom with the most donations will win a popcorn party.
Monday: “Pledging to be drug free”. Wear Red.
Students will sign a drug free pledge and receive a red ribbon.
Tuesday: “Proud to be a drug free citizen” Dress Patriotic (in red, white & blue or as a famous patriot, president, or symbol of the USA)
Wednesday: “Follow your dreams and be drug free” Dress in your favorite pair of pajamas.
Thursday: “Use good character, never do drugs.”
Students dress up as a character or in costume.
(no violence, blood, weapons, inflatables, full face paint or masks)
Friday: ”Team up to ‘run’ against drugs”
Wear Red and Black, School Spirit attire.

Tomorrow is a big day for Maplewood 3rd graders. They will be taking their first state assessment over the course of the next 2 days. Here are a few tips to help them get prepared to do their best.


October is Bullying Prevention Month. On Wednesday, October 16th, Shawnee Local Schools will be observing Unity Day as a district. Students and staff are invited to wear orange to support kindness, acceptance and inclusion. All clothing must be school appropriate!


Shawnee Schools will operate on a normal schedule Wednesday, August 28.

There is a scheduled 2-hour delay for students WEDNESDAY, March 6, 2024 for teacher in-service.
