Shawnee High School

Shawnee High School is proud to announce that Mr. Israel Gibson has been named, "Educator of the Year" by the Shawnee Optimist Club. Mr. Gibson served in the Army for four and half years before returning home to finish college at Bluffton University. Mr. Gibson was hired by Shawnee Local Schools in 2003. During his time, he has mentored students both in the classroom and athletically. He has taught American Government, World Studies, and Democracy in America. In addition to his work inside the classroom, he is a tireless advocate for students, always seeking opportunities for improvement and professional growth. Once you are one of his students or players, you are always one of his. Mr. Gibson's ability to inspire, challenge, and encourage each student individually makes him an exceptional educator.
