MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT JUDE MEYERS
Dear students, staff, and community members of the Shawnee Local Schools,
I hope things are going well as we edge closer to the start of another school year. I am honored and excited to have been selected as Superintendent of Schools. I know Shawnee is one of the finest school districts across the state of Ohio. I’m learning more every day that this distinction is because of the tradition of excellence that exists due to the incredible people of this community and the tireless work of our students, staff, and community.
In a short time, I have had the opportunity to meet numerous people in both the community and district. I cannot thank everyone enough for your wonderful greetings of kindness and support during my transition.
For those of you I have not met, let me share some information about myself. My wife Courtney, also an educator, will be working in a neighboring district. We are very excited about relocating to the Shawnee district and have secured a home that we will move into in the coming months. I am also a father of one son, Marcus (26), who lives less than an hour from here. As a father and husband, I have been truly blessed.
As an administrator you will find out that I care deeply about building relationships with students, staff, and community members. I also believe that I should be active within the Shawnee community. This is one of the main reasons I feel it is important to reside in the district.
The Shawnee district has an outstanding record of academic success as well as top notch extracurricular and athletic programs. I look forward to supporting all of these and becoming part of this amazing district. I take my role as Superintendent very seriously, for you have entrusted me with the most important resource in this district, our young people. I will work hard along with our faculty and staff to support our outstanding students. Please know that we will work diligently to meet the expectations you have for our district.
In closing, I know education is a small world and I’m sure our paths will cross quite often. I look forward to working together with you for years to come. Please stay tuned as I begin my tenure here. I will look for ways to communicate with all of our stakeholders so you are well informed of what is going on inside the Shawnee district. I wish all of you the best as we begin this journey together.
