The Shawnee Middle School cross-country team finished the 2022 season as one of the best teams in the area, placing 1st at the Allen County Championships. Two athletes, Cece Schaaf and Luke Marshall, were entered into the team's "hall of fame" as some of the fastest runners in school history. The team placed 1st in four meets and ended up with a 75% win percentage overall. From the first meet of the season at Faurot Park to the last meet, the WBL Championship in Ottawa, most of the athletes improved substantially. Most athletes ran times 2-3 minutes faster in the 2-mile run from the beginning to the end of the season, which is a testament to hard work, dedication, and persistence. Distance running isn't for everyone, but the members of the Shawnee Middle School cross-country team embraced the challenge.
