Starting Monday, September 14th, Breakfast and Lunch will be available to ALL Shawnee Local Schools students at no cost. This program is subsidized by the USDA and the Federal Summer Food Service Program and is scheduled to run through December 31, 2020. This program applies to complete meals only. If students choose to buy only a milk, that does not apply, but if they order a full meal which includes milk, the meal is provided at not cost. Also, any added a la cart items do not apply, but these items can be purchased separately. USDA has announced this program may be canceled before December 31 if funding is depleted. Students that are choosing home instruction this school year our expectation is for kids to be connected to their class live. That is the biggest change from last year's model. That way they are still "connected" to their current class and will be "in line" when we are back in our best method of instruction. Please watch the attached video for explanation. https://youtu.be/8gIQRYt78XA

We are very excited to announce that the Shawnee Local Schools Athletic Department has partnered with FinalForms, an online forms and data management service. FinalForms allows you to complete and sign athletic participation forms for your students. The most exciting news is that FinalForms saves data from season-to-season and year-to-year, meaning that you will never need to enter the same information twice! FinalForms also pre-populates information wherever possible, for each of your students, saving you time. You may review your data at any time to verify it is current. You will be required to sign your forms once per year and after any update. Click on the Parent Playbook at https://www.limashawnee.com/o/shawnee-local/page/athletic-final-forms-grades-7-12 to get started in FinalForms. If you require any support during the process, scroll to the page bottom and click “Use Support”. We are asking that ALL parents of athletes use FinalForms for grades 7-12. Please register at: https://shawneelima-oh.finalforms.com/ and follow the prompts to create your account, create your students and sign your forms. Thank you for your assistance in streamlining our paperwork processes at Shawnee Local Schools.

You may not be able to see some of their faces, but our nutrition staff was all smiles today as they distributed meals to our students. Like all of our SLS staff, these employees have been working hard to make a difficult transition a little bit easier. We appreciate them and you for your kindness and support.
Just a reminder: Food distribution is today at Shawnee Middle School ONLY from 11:30 am - 12:15 pm. Pick up will be behind the building. Signs will direct you.
We hope you and your family are healthy and settling into a new, comfortable routine with online schooling. Just like our grocery stores, our suppliers are experiencing food shortages of certain items. As a result, we are only able to distribute food to students on Wednesday, March 25, 2020. Until further notice, this will be the only scheduled distribution. Should the situation change, we will certainly notify you. Curbside distribution will be held Wednesday, March 25 ONLY. We have consolidated our resources and will have one pickup location. You may pick up your food behind the Middle School between 11:30 am - 12:15 pm. Please look for signs which will direct you. You will receive a box of food. Please bring a box or tote to assist us in loading items into your vehicle, if you are able. Rest assured, our staff will take all necessary precautions and are committed to safe food distribution. Because we are experiencing a food shortage, we ask you to forego picking up food for your student if you are not in need. Students, continue with your daily online instruction. Your teachers are available to answer your questions via email only. Please continue to check our website at www.limashawnee.com for the most up-to-date information. Thank you, James Kanable, Superintendent

Good afternoon everyone, We realize you have many questions during this uncertain time and we are doing our best to answer them to the best of our ability. In many cases we are unable to provide immediate answers as this is a rapidly changing situation. Right now our focus is ensuring that we can continue to provide the highest quality of education possible for our students. Staff members continue to work diligently to ensure successful online instruction. For those students/parents who have not yet logged on and are having difficulty doing so, please contact your child’s teacher as soon as possible so that they can assist you. It is imperative that students continue to work on their coursework during this time. If you are a parent/guardian of a Shawnee student who does not have internet connectivity, please email email@example.com. The third nine-week grading period ends tomorrow. Report card distribution information will be made available next week. Some students were given paper assignments to complete prior to school closure. Teachers will let your student know how to turn those in soon. We are continuing to review the issue of food distribution for our students. It is our hope that we will have information to share with you early next week. If you have not yet reviewed our earlier updates, please take a moment to do so as they contain important information. We have been posting updates daily. Moving forward, we anticipate postings will be less frequent. Updates and parent resources can be found on our website: www.limashawnee.com. Thank you for your continued support of our staff and students, James Kanable, Superintendent
Good afternoon everyone, We have some significant changes to announce as we move forward. In the best interest of our staff, I’ve made the decision to close our buildings at close of business today. Students will continue online learning. Teachers and staff will continue to be available via email only between the hours of 8 am and 3 pm. Due to this closure, phones will not be answered. Spring break, April 6-10, 2020, will occur as scheduled and will be observed as a “break.” No lessons will be assigned to students during that time. Students are expected to complete their online coursework and will be graded just as they would with face-to-face instruction. Maplewood, Middle School and High School grades will continue to be posted to ProgressBook. For those students who are completing paper assignments, further information about how those will be submitted and scored will be communicated to you in the future. The end of the third nine-week grading period is this Friday, March 20, 2020. Thank you for your continued patience and support during this time, James Kanable, Superintendent
