Superintendent Jim Kanable Receives Senatorial Citation
Shawnee Superintendent Jim Kanable was awarded a Senatorial Citation by Senator Matt Huffman. This award was based on his “remarkable leadership and constant efforts to improve and reform public education in the State of Ohio.”
Mr. Kanable served as a key member of superintendents from District 12 to write and guide Senate Bill 216 into law. This new law makes great strides to bring control of schools back to local Boards of Education and remove some time constraints placed on Public Schools.
A short excerpt of the citation reads: “Without your expert knowledge of school operations, student assessment, and educational initiatives, the outcome of the legislation would have been far less successful. Despite numerous responsibilities in your regular duties, you continued to volunteer your time and expertise to develop a package of important innovations for Ohio students. The passage of Senate Bill 216 is a testament to your professional conduct and unwavering dedication to the teacher and students of Ohio.”
The Shawnee Board of Education President, Mike Carpenter, presented the citation to Mr. Kanable at the August Board of Education meeting.
