AAA Ohio Auto Club Grant Award Program – This is a Grant Award Program for high school seniors who were once members of the School Safety Patrol. It awards $1000 grants and U.S. Savings Bonds. Allen County Bar Association –
The Allen County Bar Association awards two $1000 scholarships to area
high school seniors. Selection of recipients is based upon an essay.
Allen County Farm Bureau –In the past, two $500 scholarships are available for qualified students whose parents are members of the Allen County Farm Bureau.
Allen County Pork Producers – The Allen County Pork Producers make available a $500 scholarship opportunity to a student who is one of the following: the son or daughter of an Allen County Pork Producer, a 4-H or FFA member, a student with a swine project at the Allen County Fair. or a student who plans to attend an Agriculture College.
American Association of University Women
- The Lima Branch of AAUW offers eight $1,000 scholarships for
applicants who are female, residents of Allen County, graduates of an
Allen County high school, and who plan to enroll in a program leading to
a baccalaureate or graduate degree at an accredited university.
AXA Achievement Scholarship-Awards
of $2,000-$25,000 are available to well-rounded students who set and
reach ambitious goals, demonstrate drive, determination and ability to
succeed in college, and who have respect for self, family, and

This foundation awards numerous scholarships to students in Ohio and
Pennsylvania. Academic achievement, community service, financial need,
leadership, obstacles overcome, special talents, and unique endeavors
are considered. The Big 33/Waste Management Scholarship is awarded to

Burger King Scholars Program
- Burger King sponsors a scholarship opportunity for students who have a
cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, work at least 15 hours per week, and
who have demonstrated financial need and participation in community

Charitable Italian American Organization (CIAO) of Allen County Scholarships – CIAO offers $1000 scholarships to area students annually regardless of race, creed or color. Selection criteria include academic achievement, participation in civic and religious functions, and financial need. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA.
Coca-Cola Scholars Program – Two hundred fifty merit-based scholarships are awarded annually across the country. Fifty awards of $20,000 and two hundred awards of $10,000 are available. Selection criteria include demonstrated leadership in academics, school, community and civic activities, as well as personal character and the motivation to serve and succeed. Craft Scholarship Fund-The
Allen County Board of Education sponsors a fund to provide low-interest
loans to students. Recipients are chosen based on need, scholarship,
leadership, and personal character.
(William and Pauline) Deisel Scholarship –A
scholarship fund has been established for seniors graduating from a
high school in Allen County. Students must have at least a 2.5
cumulative GPA to apply. Priority will be given to applicants

Eagles (George Wilson Memorial Scholarship) – The Fraternal Order of the Lima Eagles #370 will award two $1000 scholarships. (One for a male and one for a female) Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Winners will be chosen based on academics, activities, leadership, and community service.
Elk’s Association Education Grant – The Ohio Elks Association will be awarding a number of $1,000 grants to local students desiring to attend a career or technical institution. Bachelors or Graduate Degree Programs will not qualify.

Engineers Foundation of Ohio -
In conjunction with the National Society of Professional Engineers,
this foundation offers scholarships to seniors throughout the state of
Ohio who desire a career in engineering. Criteria include a 3.0 GPA and a

Gardeners of Lima Scholarship-The
Gardeners of Lima organization offers a scholarship for students in
high school or college who are enrolled in horticulture, forestry,
conservation, or environmental studies.
Gates Millennium Scholarships-
There are a large number of scholarships available to students who are
African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific American,
or Hispanic. Students must have a 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale and must be
pursuing a major in the areas of Mathematics, Science, Engineering,
Education, or Library Sciences. Significant financial need is required

(Steven J.) Gordon Leadership Award-
Steven J. Gordon, a 1993 Shawnee High School graduate, has established a
$5,000 scholarship to honor a graduating senior who has demonstrated a
real commitment to making Shawnee High School a better place through
leadership and participation in school activities. Applicants should
have above average grades and a strong record of participation in a
variety of school activities.
(Beatrice M.) Guyton Memorial Scholarship
- This non - renewable scholarship is given in memory of Beatrice M.
Guyton, a dedicated Social Studies teacher. She retired in 1967 after 39
years of teaching at SHS. The amount of the award is contingent upon
the interest generated from the funds available in the account.
Applicants must have at least a 2.8 cumulative GPA by the end of their

Horatio Alger Scholarship-The
Horatio Alger Association seeks to assist students who have
demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength

Hy Ho Club Scholarships
- Scholarships are available to African American students who are
interested in attending a two or four-year institution. Students need to

Jeremy Hutchison Scholarship-A
scholarship has been established in memory of Jeremy Hutchison. Jeremy
and his father, Jeff, were killed in a plane crash on September 3rd,
2007. One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a Shawnee senior based on
demonstrated need and personal character. A cumulative GPA of at least
2.0 is required.
Knights of Columbus Essay Contest-The Knights of Columbus in Delphos sponsors an essay contest on the topic of “Patriotism” each year.

Lima and Allen County Medical Alliance Scholarship -
A $1,000 scholarship is given to a senior or recent graduate who plans
to pursue a health career. Eligibility is based upon a minimum GPA of a

Lima Garden Club - The
Lima Garden Club offers a $500 scholarship to one high school graduate
who intends to pursue an education in the field of horticulture, botany,
landscaping, or forestry.
Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary-Two
$1,500 scholarships are awarded to eligible persons entering
health-related careers and one additional scholarship will be awarded to
a student who planning to enter the nursing field. Selection is based
on academic performance, health care interest, financial need and
personal interviews. Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA to apply.
Midwest Electric, Inc. and the Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives Scholarships -
Seniors with a 3.0 or better grade point average, whose parents are
consumers of Midwest Electric, are eligible to compete for scholarships.

Monica Berger Teacher Education Scholarship-A
scholarship was established in memory of Monica Berger, who was a
teacher in the Shawnee Schools when she died in 2011. The scholarship is
for a graduating senior who plans on being a teacher. Applicants must
have a 3.2 cumulative GPA and the application includes an essay,
statement of need, letters of recommendation, and a transcript. One
$1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Shawnee graduating senior each
Kathie Naab-Conwell Scholarship-A
scholarship was established in 2011 in memory of Kathie Naab, a
long-time English teacher and student government advisor at Shawnee High
School. One or more $1,000 scholarships are awarded to Shawnee seniors
each year who have shown extraordinary interest in subjects taken in
high school. Students must be nominated by teachers to be considered for
National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences – The Cleveland Regional Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will be offering three $2,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college and pursue a career in television or areas related to television. National Commission for Cooperative Education-This organization offers 175 merit co-op scholarships at a total value of $3.5 Million. Applicants must have GPA’s of 3.5 or higher and must be accepted at an NCCE Partner College. Ohio Association of Career Colleges and Schools Legislative Scholarships - The council grants 120 scholarships ranging in value from $2,000 to $15,000 for students planning to attend a Career College in Ohio. Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers - The Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers awards $1000 scholarships to eligible college bound seniors with a 2.5 GPA. Eight $500 scholarships are awarded in the area to seniors who plan to

Ohio Newspapers Foundation Minority Scholarship
- Three $1500 scholarships are available to minority high school
seniors who plan to pursue a newspaper/journalism career at an Ohio
college or university. Blacks, Hispanics, Asian Americans, or American

Ohio State Alumni Scholars Program of Allen County (Go Bucks Scholarship) - The OSU Allen County Alumni Club awards merit scholarships to eligible Allen County seniors who apply to The Ohio State University (Lima or Columbus). Eligibility criteria include a class rank in the top 25% and school and community-related involvement.
Ohio State University-Lima Campus Rudd Scholarships-Beginning
with the 2005-06 academic year, three full scholarships and three
half-tuition scholarships (all renewable) will be available each year to
students from Allen and Auglaize Counties who will be attend the Lima
Campus. Students must apply to the university, submit the FAFSA, and
complete the Rudd Scholarship Essays as well as the Lima Campus
Scholarship Application to qualify.
Ohio War Orphans Scholarship - Scholarships are available to the children of deceased or severely disabled war veterans who served in the armed forces during a period of declared war conflict. Ron Brown Scholar Program – This program honors the late U.S. Secretary of Commerce. While financially needy students receive precedence, the scholarship review committee places emphasis upon academic achievement and community service. ROTC Scholarships -
A military obligation is required. Scholarships include four years of
college tuition, fees, and an allowance. These are highly competitive.
The Society of Automotive Engineersoffers several scholarships to
qualified students interested in the study of engineering and the

Sigma Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority - This sorority makes available scholarships for African American students with a cumulative GPA of a 2.0 or higher.
Simon Youth Foundation – The Simon Student Youth Foundation provides $1200 scholarships locally and higher amounts at the regional level. Xavier University Scholarship for Shawnee High School Seniors-Two $500 Scholarships are available to Shawnee H.S. Seniors who plan to attend Xavier University.
