2018-19 SMS Spelling Bee

Shashank Chanamolu, 7th grade, won the 2018-19 SMS Spelling Bee and Addison Kirchenbauer-Roney, 8th grade, placed second.  Congratulations to both!  Shashank will represent SMS in the Allen County Spelling Bee and the Lima News Regional Spelling Bee.

Be sure you have a Progressbook account set up!  This is an excellent way to keep up with your student's grades and assignments.  If you need help setting up an account, please contact your student's counselor.

Apollo Career Connections Tour 2018

On Friday, September 28th, our 8th graders spent the morning at Apollo Career Center for their Career Connections Tour.  Each student visited three programs and participated in hands-on activities within the classrooms.  Students enjoyed sharing their experiences and it was a great kickoff to conversations this school year about future career plans!

Career Guidance

It's never too early to start thinking about career options.  Middle  school is a great time to learn more about different careers and ask  questions.  All students will create a "backpack" through the Ohio Means  Jobs website at some point this school year.  Students can use this  website to determine their strengths and interests through a career  interest inventory as well as explore the necessary education, job  duties, salary information, and much more about various careers.
