  • Shawnee Middle School held its annual Spelling Bee on December 8, 2014.  Seventh grader, Alotus Wei (left), spelled “surfeit” correctly to become the 2014-15 champion.  Sixth grader, Jillienne Kohler (right), is this year’s runner-up.  Alotus will move on to compete in the Allen County Spelling Bee on January 24, 2015 at OSU-Lima.  Congratulations to both and good luck!

  • Congratulations to Anita Kottapalli who was recently named the Lima Area's DAR (Daughters of American Revolution) Good Citizen in recognition of her dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.  

  • Senior Ruthvik Avvari was recently honored in a ceremony at Honda of America Manufacturing in Marysville as Shawnee’s Class of 2015 Honda-OSU Math Medal Award recipient in recognition of his exceptional math and science performance.

Shawnee Education Association Scholarship

The Shawnee Education Association awards two $500 scholarships each year.  The SEA Scholarship Fund has been established to honor one senior graduating from Shawnee High School and one Shawnee High School graduate.  The SEA wishes to reward students who have achieved excellence while pursuing a well-rounded program of studies.  For each scholarship, the student must meet the established criteria, listed below.


U.S. News Best High School Rankings 2014 - SHS is the 65th highest performing public high school (charter, magnet or regular public) out of 832 Ohio high schools and 1,352nd nationally of 19,411 public high schools.  These rankings are based upon actual student performance in reading and math compared to a statistical expectation, the performance of our “least advantaged” students and college readiness as determined by the AP participation rate and level of student performance.  click here for details
