As required by House Bill 1, Ohio's Academic Content Standards for Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies have been revised. The State Board of Education adopted new standards in June 2010. These Standards describe what ALL students should know and be able to do at each grade level. The revised standards aim at preparing every student to be ready for college and the workplace. The Science and Social Studies standards are state revised, while the English Language Arts and Math are common core (national) standards. These standards are part of an aligned system that is aimed at ensuring that No Child is Left Behind. The newly adopted standards will be the basis for Ohio's assessment system, which will also be revised. Ohio Graduation Tests

Spring Administration – Monday, March 12 through Friday, March 16, 2012
Please mark your calendars now, as it is imperative that students are in school during those dates.
Ohio’s testing system will be completely revamped and aligned with the revised content standards. In grades 3 – 8, the writing test will be combined with reading to form an English/Language Arts assessment. The Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) will be replaced with a multi-tiered system. Current plans include online testing, multiple testing opportunities within one year, perfomance assessments and rapid reporting of results. ODE is expected to provide districts with more specific details by the end of summer, with the new system fully implemented the 2014 – 2015 school year. The new assessment system will be implemented all at once (all tests, all tested grades). This will necessitate a revised report card system. We will be challenged to meet the technology requirements of an online testing system.
