Hutchison Memorial Scholarship  
The applications for the Jeremy Hutchison Memorial Scholarship are available in the guidance office. This scholarship originated when Jeremy and his father, Jeff, were killed in a plane crash on Sept. 3, 2007. Jeremy was 9 years old and in the 4th grade. It is the family's intent to honor Jeremy by reaching out beyond their loss to help others. One of the things he did best was to seek out those who were hurting or needing help, and take care of them. The scholarship was inspired by a questionnaire that Jeremy answered his first day of 4th grade. Deadline is April 26.     

Andia Shisler Memorial Scholarship  
The applications for the Andia Shisler Memorial Scholarship are available in the guidance office now. There are two $500 awards. Andia Shisler was a 2009 graduate of Shawnee High School. She was attending Urbana University majoring in middle childhood education and a member of the Women’s Soccer Team when she was tragically killed in a car accident. The questions in the application are designed about her love for life and using the strength of family and friends to succeed. Deadline for submission to Guidance Office is April 26.    

Gordon Leadership Scholarship  
Applications for the Gordon Leadership Scholarship are now available in the guidance office. Steve Gordon, a 1993 Shawnee High School graduate, has established a $5,000 scholarship to honor graduating senior(s) who have demonstrated a real commitment to making Shawnee High School a better place through leadership and participation in school activities. The scholarships have been incrementally distributed to 1 or more applicants according to Mr. Gordon after review of applications. Questions about past distributions may be directed to the guidance office. Mr. Gordon was Shawnee’s Distinguished Alumni in 2014. Applicants should have above average grades and a strong record of participation in a variety of school activities. Applications are due to the guidance office by April 26th at 3 p.m.      

SEA Scholarships  
Shawnee Education Association offers two scholarships available to seniors: the SEA Scholarship for students who have a parent currently employed by Shawnee School District and the Bev Burdette Scholarship for a Shawnee graduate studying education or a Shawnee senior planning to study education. Applications are available in the guidance office and the deadline for both is May 3.    

IAFF Local 2550-Greg King Memorial Scholarship
Local Shawnee Fire Department scholarship for students entering medical or fire service field of study. Deadline is May 1 and all materials are available in Guidance Office.  

Allen County Bar Association Scholarship
Allen County Bar offers two $1000 scholarships. It is an essay competition. The deadline is April 23. Entry form and information is available in Guidance office. This year's prompt is: Under the First Amendment, should an elected official be permitted to block people from their public social media accounts for expressing contrary opinions?

Nancy Steiner Scholarship  
Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park Scholarship for students entering environmental science or natural resource fields including biological sciences. Application is available in guidance office and deadline is April 15.     

The Monica Berger Teacher Education Scholarship
            Monica Berger was an exceptional young woman who decided at an early age that she wanted to be a teacher. Though her dream was short lived by her death at age 28, she was a dedicated, outstanding and compassionate teacher right here at Elmwood Elementary.

If your goal is to be a teacher, we invite you to apply for this scholarship. We ask you to tell us why you want to teach: what motivates you to teach and most importantly we want to know why you believe you will be an exemplary teacher. Be sure to complete all requirements for consideration: (1) Application; (2) Essay;(3) Statement of Need; (4) Letters of Recommendation; (5) a copy of your latest grade card/transcript. We look forward to learning about you and your quest to become a teacher. We wish you the best in your educational journey to your future and a most important profession. Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship
Lockheed Martin has launched a new scholarship program to provide opportunities to students who want to build their talents and change the world! Beginning in 2019, we are awarding 200 scholarships of $10,000 per student – renewable each year. The program will continue to add up to 200 new recipients each year, and will be open to individuals studying engineering or computer science that demonstrate financial need and come from underrepresented or underserved communities.  The scholarship program doesn’t end with a check. Mentoring opportunities will be a key component of the program, and recipients will also be eligible for Lockheed Martin internship opportunities following their freshman year in college. Honda Scholarships
Honda of America Manufacturing is pleased to announce the availability of $2,500 scholarships, for the 2019/2020 academic year, for students pursuing studies in disciplines directly related to manufacturing engineering and technology. CRITERIA  ·         Graduating high school senior planning to attend one of the community colleges listed below  ·         Part or full-time undergraduate student currently enrolled in one of the community colleges listed below  ·         Enrolled in a certificate or degree program in manufacturing engineering/manufacturing technology or a closely related engineering discipline  ·         Eligible colleges in the state of Ohio:  o    Rhodes State College  o    Columbus State Community College (all campuses)  o    Marion Technical College  o    Edison Community College (all campuses)  o    Sinclair Community College (all campuses)  o    Clark State College (all campuses)  ·         Minimum GPA 2.5 on a 4.0 scale    

The OppU Achievers Scholarship
celebrates students who transform opportunity into results. It rewards achievement in its many forms and honors those who create opportunity for both themselves and others. Founded in 2016, the scholarship provides $2,500 for current or future education costs. Scholarship selections are made four times a year. Annually, the OppU Achievers Scholarship awards a total of $10,000 to students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement.   Title is linked to info and application.  

William Squires Foundation Scholarships-Needs Based
The William Squires Foundation Scholarships are now available online and linked at the guidance web page. These are based on financial need an the deadline is April 5.

Ohio Mews Media Minority & General Scholarships
Open to seniors majoring in journalism, advertising, marketing or communications.

The Bonnie Eddy Educational Supply and Book Grant 

The NW Region Executive Committee of the Ohio School Boards Association is comprised of elected school board members who take pride in providing support to high school seniors demonstrating an interest in the teaching profession. The NW Region OSBA proudly awards a minimum of $2000.00 in educational support annually through the Bonnie Eddy Educational Supply and Book Grant (BEES-BG). All seniors in Northwest Ohio whose school district is a member of the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) is eligible to apply for one of the $500.00 BEES-BG awards. The recipients of the BEES-BG are invited guests at one of the Northwest Region’s annual Fall Conferences in October, 2019 where special recognition is provided to the recipients, districts, and board members. Deadline is the last day of January 2019. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. More info is at title link.

FFA Rural Scholarships available

      BURGER KING McLAMORE? Foundation, which was established in October 2005, is the charitable arm of the BURGER KING® system and is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.The BURGER KING? Scholars program assists employees, employees' spouses or domestic partners, employees' children and high school seniors in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada in continuing their education.

WACE National Scholarship Co-op Programs

WACE, on behalf of the nine WACE Partner Institutions, is pleased to announce and sponsor its Seventeenth Annual National Co-op Scholarship Program. As the largest independently sponsored merit co-op scholarship program in the United States, WACE will award up to 160 merit co-op scholarships for a total value of $4,200,000. These merit co-op scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors and transfer students who plan to participate in college cooperative education at one of our Partner Institutions listed on the Scholarship Partners tab- partners include University of Cincinnati and University of Toledo.

Goodcall Scholarship Service is a Scholarship Service that is attached to universities we deal with regularly and endorsed by reputable, major sources. I communicated with them and all services seem legitimate. Title is linked to web site.

Student Scholarships at
Shawnee Guidance Department gets scores of mailings regarding scholarships and funding for college. The above web site is a research and hub for many scholarships nationwide. Per my research it is a legitimate, sound, tested web site...including a review by U.S.News. That said, we have little direct experience with it. Please use at your own risk and contact us with feedback if it proves unwieldy or invalid. Remember to watch for scholarship scams and beware:
